Thank you for considering Central Ohio Canine Foundation for your service dog needs.

 

This page explains the application process and the minimum requirements to apply. There are three steps to the approval process. Central Ohio Canine Foundation takes the needs of our Veterans/First Responders seriously; this includes the selection, well-being, and training of your service dog. The application process is meant to provide the best experience for the handler and the canine. This process allows our selection committee to provide a canine that meets your needs while our training team educates both the canine and the handler.

Step 1: Complete the initial application. Once the initial application is reviewed and approved, a detailed application will be sent to you.

Step 2: The selection committee will review the information and schedule an interview date and time or notification of disapproval. 

​

Step 3: Complete an interview. The interview will provide additional information for final approval and clarify the applicant’s needs.

The minimum requirements for starting the application process are listed below:

​

-Must live in one of the following counties serviced by the COCF.

Crawford, Delaware, Franklin, Licking, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Union

​

-Applicant must have an Honorable discharge (Military)

​

-Applicant has retired in good standing with the department (LE, Fire, EMS)

​

 -Applicant has a mental or medical condition that is documented and supported by a medical
